GLDED PAINE

In the run-up to his new EP, Moraine, Chicago’s Glded has dropped the warm, electronic indie sounds of ‘Paine’. The influence he takes from modern folk geniuses like Iron & Wine and Bon Iver is clear. His falsetto voice sits delicately above a subtle accompaniment, letting sweet melodies and introspective lyrics draw the focus from within the atmospheric soundscape of an accompaniment. Glded (real name Ben Harper), explains that “it's based on my experience during a weeklong backpacking trek in Torres del Paine National Park in southern Chile. Paine translates to “blue” in the native Tehuelche language, and Torres “towers”. The trek was physically demanding, and served as a reminder that time and vitality are fleeting.” Be on the lookout for Moraine soon. -Dan Peeke
